Maria Alejandra Amado
I am a Research Economist at the Monetary Policy and International Economics Department of the Bank of Spain.
I received my Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
My research focuses on international finance and macroeconomics, with an emphasis on the real and cross-border effects of financial shocks and macroprudential policies.
I combine rich administrative microdata with theory-based models to understand how these shocks propagate through firms and banks in open economies.
